Aloha Acai

I'm sure you have heard of Acai (ah-sah-EE ) by now, but did you know it is the palm berry of the clumping palm species Euterpe oleracea? We at Eco-Islands know the value in exotic tropical palms, especially ones that have so many uses.. Native to South America, Acai is cultivated for its fruit, heart of palm, an oil source(seeds) and building a material source(trunks that are bug resistant), Acai palm seems a perfect fit for our sustainable future. The fruit consist of a hefty rack of grape sized berries, the berries are mostly seed(80%) but if you can pulp that berry you are left with a purple nutrient rich smoothie that is well worth the time it took to grow and process!! Popular in Brazil as the milk for their cereal you will often find it served in a bowl with granola, bananas and local honey of course. We love our Acai Bowls so much that we found a Acai Expert that works with Acai Farmers in Brazil, He sent us over some very clean and Disease Free seed of a variety know as Para Dwarf, not a True Acai but one that only grows up to 30ft as compared to a 100ft for some Acai palms found in the Rain forest. The Palms are about  year old and we have decided to spread the love a little, so we are selling 50 of these palms on a first come first serve basis at $15 a piece. Call us to see if we still have them in stock, we have many more seeds planted for the future but they are no quite ready yet.

Happy Planting!
